Clean up your text
The Clean up row provides quick fixes without changing your meaning:
- Trim edges — removes whitespace from the start and end
- Remove extra spaces — collapses runs of spaces and tabs to a single space
- Remove line breaks — joins everything into one paragraph
- UPPERCASE — all letters capitalized
- lowercase — all letters small
- Capitalize Each Word — Title Case, where every word starts with a capital
- Sentence case — first letter of each sentence capitalized
What each number means
- Words — sequences of letters and numbers separated by spaces.
- Characters — every visible character including spaces, punctuation and emoji.
- No spaces — characters excluding any kind of whitespace.
- Sentences — split on
.,!,?and the ellipsis…. - Paragraphs — blocks separated by a blank line.
- Read time — estimated at 200 words per minute.
- Speaking time — estimated at 130 words per minute.

- Meta description — 160 characters
- SMS — 160 characters
- Twitter / X — 280 characters
- Instagram bio — 150 characters

Yes. It is completely free, has no word limit and requires no signup.
Does my text leave my device?
No. All counting happens locally in your browser. Your text is never sent to any server.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute.
Does it show character limits for social media?
Yes. Live counters are shown for Twitter/X, Instagram bio and caption, LinkedIn, SMS, YouTube title, SEO title and meta description.
Can I capitalize each word?
Yes. Click Capitalize Each Word in the Clean up row to convert your text to Title Case.
Can I see my most-used words?
Yes. The Top words panel shows your ten most frequent words, with an option to exclude common English stop words.
Is my text saved if I close the tab?
Yes. The current text is stored in this browser's local storage and restored when you return.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first visit the page is cached, and all counting works without an internet connection.
Can I upload a file?
Yes. Click Upload file to load a .txt, .md, .csv or .log file.
